A post with no pictures.

Good golly! I hadn't realized just how long it had been since I last made a post. I guess it's time for an update! Life has been going all too fast these last few weeks! I can't even believe October is halfway over. So what have we been up to?
Well we squeezed a lot into the last few weeks of summer and we had a blast. I had my birthday....big 27! lol, I feel like its way closer to 30 than 26 was. We had cake with some friends, then went boating the next day. We also hit up Edmonton that weekend and did some shopping.
We have had lots of our family come and visit us, and it has been so wonderful. I love living close to family again. When we lived in Toronto it was almost a year before we had anyone come visit us, and then we had my parents and Mikes parents each visit once. So we have loved being close to family again. Don't get me wrong....an 8 hr drive in a car to Waterton, with three kids is no walk in the park, but it is much more affordable than trips to and from Toronto. We have made it down there 3 times in the last 6 months so we are doing pretty good. We have also loved having people over for visits, games, and food! We love food here....both making it and eating it!
We did a bit more boating, a few days at the spray park, and a few more days outside in shorts.....then fall hit. Don't get me wrong....I love fall.....but after fall comes winter...which I don't love. Therefore fall isn't my favourite season. But with fall, came Mason starting school (which he loves) and I love that it is an even closer walk to school than we had in Toronto. He loves going and coming home and telling me all that he has done and made.
October came and with it came the start of volleyball for me, thanksgiving and preparations for Halloween. A good friend of mine came up with a proposition for her and I. We both want to get back in shape, so we have given ourselves until May to lose our goals of 15-20 lbs. If we are successful....we get to go to Vegas together! So I am extra motivated to get in shape. I have loved playing volleyball again, and I may not be the star player on my team, but I am having a blast. I have also started working out at home again. We took before pictures, and hope to have some killer bods for our after pictures. If I get confident enough one day I might post them. For now I am way to embarrassed to show anybody!
Thanksgiving was awesome, we had two days of back to back delicious food! Hmmm....guess weight loss and eating lots of food don't go hand in hand, but I guess that means I have to work out extra hard these next few weeks! :) We still had a great time visiting with friends and family and remembering all we have to be thankful for.
The weather is getting colder now and Halloween is coming. Mason changes his mind daily about what he wants to be. I guess we need to narrow it down so we can figure out a costume in time.
Jaxen is now 7 months old and he is crawling all over the place. I can't believe how big he is getting some days. Aubrey enjoys her time at home with mom while Mason is in school. It's great being able to play dolls, paint our toe nails and bake together. I love having a little girl!
Overall we have been doing really well. I am thoroughly enjoying my life right now and I am excited for the future too. I still can't believe how fast time has been going. I promise I will have some more posts up soon....with pictures!

Hanging Pictues

So it's only taken us a month and a half, but we finally got some things hung up in our house to make it feel more like home. A few weeks ago we picked up our new table, and I love it. We had just gone to "window shop" for tables when we saw it, so I snapped a picture of the info and planned to keep it in mind for later. That's when the sale lady came up and told us she would check to see if it was on sale.....I am a sucker for sales, and it was like $300 off!! We couldn't turn it down so we made our purchase and it arrived a couple days later....I was even more in love with it once we had it set up and realized it came with a leaf that easily folds under the table.
I love the chairs because there is no fabric on them....hello I have small kids...that would be a recipe for disaster. So I am really happy with everything about it!
Now back to hanging pictures....I felt more inclined to do it now that we had a nicer looking table to finish the room. We picked up a mirror and a new frame for one of my paintings, and hung them up to finish the space. We have few other ideas down the road of things we would like to add....but little by little it will all come together.
I painted this about 10 years ago, and my mom had it for a while.. then we had it...then it was in storage....now it's out! We decided to get a new frame since the old one was broken.

This mirror is bigger than it looks....we couldn't even get it in our car! A nice stranger in the parking lot offered to bring it home for us!
I like the room and how it came together.

Since we were in the process of hanging things anyways, we decided to hang up a bunch of our other pictures. My living room is the farthest room from completion, but it needed something in there to stop it from feeling soooo blah! We have a pretty good idea of the new couches we want in there, as well as an area rug and new entertainment centre. A small desk too eventually....and some bookshelves...like I said it needs a lot of work. But I knew that with all our plans, the pictures we wanted to hang would still work. And if I need to change it...we can worry about that down the road.
I decided to do a gallery style display this time around, and I came across this brilliant idea on Pinterest. Simply lay out your design on the floor, trace the frames and where the nail marks go....hang your tracing, nail the nails and hang your pictures. Excited to try it I dug through my drawers and assembled my things. The only difference was...I decided to use parchment paper instead of wax paper.
     Rookie mistake.
They aren't joking when they say non-stick paper....the tape wouldn't even stick to it. Too bad I only had about three feet of wax paper left. :(   So the project went on hold over the weekend so I could go buy some more and set to trying again on Monday night! Success!!!!
Sorry its dark....we did it late at night!
It worked like a charm and Mike was a big help!

And I love my wall now with pictures of our family!

We need to get a few updated photos, and print some of the ones we have and eventually hang some more pictures elsewhere in the house, but I am excited with how things are starting to come together! Once our living room looks more exciting I will add some pictures of the full room too.
      p.s. Still LOVE my kitchen!!

I can finally blog again!!

I am so excited to be back to blogging....I have missed it! What a CRAZY couple of months it has been for our family! Lets do a little re-cap here.....at the end of Feb. I was busy getting ready for a baby, and planning a birthday party and packing a house/organizing a move across the country, and still walking(waddling) almost everywhere! At 38-40 weeks pregnant....this was all pretty exhausting. But I did it!
Then came a baby.....but not at all how I planned! You can read that full story here if you wish! :) Needless to say I was not prepared to be recovering from a major surgery with only 5 weeks until our move! How was I supposed to pack up a whole house when I wasn't supposed to lift more than 10lbs? But with some help of friends, and an amazing husband, we did it! Packing up a house to move across the country with 3 small kids and an incision in my abdomen wasn't so fun, but getting to hang out with all my amazing friends before we left was. We were trying to cram so many things into that last week, we were crazy busy, but it was worth it! I made so many INCREDIBLE friends in Toronto, and I miss them all so much! Thank goodness for Facebook!
Then there was the actual move. Things went soooo smoothly on the Toronto end, I was sure things were going to end well. Once our things were loaded into the truck we were told it would arrive in 7-10 days (ahem..cough..cough...try 50!!!). So here we were living in a basement suite in Edmonton with  a very few things. We had a dozen or so boxes of thing that had been kept in storage at my moms while we were in Toronto. But boxes of games, movies, photo albums and craft supplies don't do you a whole lot of good when you are trying to settle into a place.
You can see the pile of boxes we lived in for a month.
We had about a weeks worth of clothes in suitcases, and our queen size bed(which was also in storage) our kids slept on a borrowed foam mattress, we bought a few dishes/utensils and made do for over a month! I literally could not have survived if it weren't for my sister! She lived upstairs and daily I was borrowing things! A pot or pan, a toaster, a strainer, bowls....really anything from the kitchen....also band aids, toilet paper, toothpaste....you name it,   I am sure at some point we borrowed it. We would also come upstairs and borrow a table to eat our meals sometimes, or a couch to sit on. We did share a lot of meals (especially when both our husbands went off to Toronto for Mikes convocation) and our kids had a lot of fun playing/fighting with each other!! :)
Mike and Jordie in Toronto at Mikes convocation.
Once our stuff had arrived we decided there was no point in unpacking it, because we found out we would be making yet another move. Mike accepted a job out in Edson, two hours west of Edmonton. In a sense it was the easiest move because most of our things were still packed up, but it was also the hardest, because I was not planning on moving so soon, and especially not planning on moving to Edson. But we are here and we are adjusting!
Finding a place was no easy task either. Rentals are REALLY hard to come by here, and we lucked out when friend of friends were moving out right as we needed to move in. They were hoping to sell the place but we weren't in a position to buy...yet...so we came to agreements and we are renting for a few months and will be buying the place as soon as we are able. It a three bedroom townhouse/condo. I have an upstairs, main floor, and basement. And I have an AWESOME kitchen! I couldn't be happier, we have so much space! Now we just need to get a few more items of furniture to fill it and we will be set.
LOVE my kitchen!
We also managed to celebrate Aubrey's 3rd birthday, bless Jaxen, visit my Mom and Dads several times, and take 2 trips down to Waterton. We banked a lot of time in the car!

YAY for road trips!!!!
The second trip we managed to hit a deer on the way down, or rather it hit us. Traveling 110km/hr we amazingly drove away with barely a tiny dent on the drivers side door. I'll spare you the picture of the deer! :) And to add to the crazy trip we were actually down in Waterton when the flooding of Southern Alberta happened. The water levels in the town site rose crazy high, but I don't think there was much flood damage to any of the buildings.

No sign of any beach here.

The docks were very flooded.
It was very crazy driving back up north after and see all of the damage and water that was still around. We were glad we didn't get caught in it. It really has been a crazy last couple of months. It really has been a whirlwind, with a lot of emotionally straining things happening, but I survived. I am so grateful for such an amazing husband and family that kept me mostly sane through it. Mike can vouch for my crazy times I am sure. :) We are feeling blessed despite it all, Mike loves his new job, and I am excited to see what life will be like post grad school! Things will settle in and we will find our new groove and life will go on!

Mike did it! 6 years of school down, a lifetime of work ahead of him!! So proud of him!

Aubrey was this (2) and now is this (3)!!

My sweet little Aubrey is 3 now. She always says it holding up her little fingers....now I am this! I felt really scrambled for her birthday this year as we were and still are in the midst of a move. It is hard to plan a party when you don't quite have a place to call your own. But we did it! Phew! On her actual birthday we met up with some of Mikes family....they were traveling through Edmonton on their way to a summer job. We ate at Olive Garden, and long story short, after a very long wait for our food, our server managed to get our entire bill taken care of...including dessert! Can't complain about that! :)

It was also really good seeing some of Mikes siblings....we hadn't seen them in almost 2 years!
After that we headed over to west Edmonton mall and took the kids to Galaxyland. We bought a few tokens and let them ride on a few of the rides. They had a great time, and so did Mike and I watching them!

The day after her birthday we had all of my family come in for a birthday lunch. A few frozen pizzas and some French fries, salad and pop....and of course cake!

I usually like to do really fun cakes but like I said earlier I was a bit scrambled and didn't have any of my own cake decorating stuff, so I thought it would be really fun and cute to make cake pops! Lol....maybe just a word of advice, don't let your first time making them be at 11:00 pm the night before the party. The blogs make it look so easy! Ha ha.....we did manage to have a handful turn out ok....mostly hidden by sprinkles (life saver!) just don't look too close! :)

The good thing though was they did taste great, even if more than half of them were blobs on a cookie sheet!  We also had a little cake made because a few of my family members can't eat gluten.  It all worked out in the end and everyone got some cake.

We got her a few stuffed dolls from the Disney store. Not typically my first choice but you tend to cave when she spend the entire time at the store playing with these dolls. She loves them....and when I asked her what she thought when she opened up,her present her reply was "they're beautiful!!!!!"

This little girl makes my smile to no end. She is such a sweetheart and can easily wrap anybody
around her little finger. She gives the best hugs and we love that she is all ours! This is the first year I get to do the birthday questions for her and here are her answers! :)

Mason's 5th on 5th!!

I meant to get this post up much sooner, but better late then never!!
It was Mason's special birthday this year as he turned 5 years old on the 5th of March. I always want to make sure my kids feel special on their birthdays, but I especially wanted Mason to have a great birthday this year. For one, it was his 5th birthday and the other reason was I didn't want him feeling like his birthday got lost in the excitement and commotion of a new sibling being born.
As my due date was on March 3rd, I had to try to plan a good time to have a party. Since babies are usually unpreictable I actually had two birthday party dates on the invitation. There was a disclaimer on the back that said if I go into labour early the party would be rescheduled for a different day and time. :)
We had his party with all his school friends about 2 weeks early. We decided on a BUG themed birthday party and he had a blast with it.  It was really easy finding party inspiration off the internet, so I can't claim that any of these ideas were actually mine!
I did design and print up the invites on my own, and the cake was a lot of fun and really easy to make. I did chocolate pudding mix/whip cream icing instead of regular icing to try to cut back a little on the killer sweetness, since the top of the cake was covered in candies.

We had a few activities, the kids could make antenna out of pipe cleaner when they came in. Then we had a game of "What time is is Mr. ________(insert name of favorite bug!) We also had a craft of making caterpillars out of egg cartons. And whats a party without balloons? Those also kept the kids happy for a bit.
I didn't want to provide a full lunch for the kids so we just had a few munchies on the sides that they  could eat. We had butterfly sandwiches, and ants on a log. And the favorite was the "bug juice" which was just green Koolaid and sprite. The kids thought that was really fun.
They also each went home with a little goodie bag with some bug candy and little bug toys. I think we kept it pretty simple but lots of fun for everyone. Mason had a great time and I call that a success.
For his actual birthday we gave him our presents from us and grandparents, and sang happy birthday, then just bought a few little treats from the bakery for after supper. I can't believe he is 5 years old already and I am sure lucky to have him in my life.
Last year on his birthday I asked him a bunch of questions. I want to do it every year and see how his answers change. You can see last years here. These are his responses for this year!

1. What is your favorite color? Thats a tricky one. I like a lot. But I would say my favourite is violet.

Jaxen Robert Sommerfeld

I was originally just going to do a quick post telling of my easy delivery and show some nice pictures of my baby. But this little guy had a different idea. He made for one heck of a birth story and I feel that story needs justice in sharing it.
You know how you like to go to the hospital with a birth plan all ready, and realize it might not go exactly according to plan, but you hope to stick relatively close...that's what I expected, especially with this being my third. I had two very easy delivery's and with an extremely normal, uncomplicated pregnancy I kind of expected number three would almost walk out. The only reason I did write up a birth plan was because I was at a new hospital. It went something like this.
- as natural as possible
- will take epidural though
-no c-section unless emergency
-calm atmosphere
- hold baby right away
I pretty much had to throw out the whole list. To start. I wasn't planning on being induced. I had hope of an early or close to on time delivery. I figured with all the walking I did it would help. Well I had to be induced. I kept saying this baby just doesn't want to come out. I called to find out when I should come in and they told me 9:00am. But when I got there they were busy and asked me to wait till 9:30. In the meantime they would do some fetal monitoring a check me. Things looked hopeful, the nurse told me baby was looking good, head was low and I was 2-3 cm and fairly thinned out. She assured me they would break my water and that should hopefully get things started. Next problem they now couldn't get me in until 2:00. So Mike and I went walking. We went for lunch walked around winners and then headed back to the hospital. I was finally admitted at 2:00 pm. 5 hrs after what I originally thought. The doctor came and checked me and gave me the next unexpected news. I wasn't thinned out and needed cervidill. Which had to sit for 6 hrs. More waiting. No breaking my water. We walked a bit, sat a bit, played some cards, chatted and our photographer arrived. I had a few contractions here and there, none very strong and all short lived. The doctor was supposed to come check my progression at 9:15. She didn't come until about 11:00. Did I mention I had been up since 5:15 that morning with Mason...who was very excited to meet his brother, I was exhausted by this point and I had only just begun to have some regular contractions. I knew it was going to be a long night.
When the doctor checked me she said I was ready to have my water broken....yay....some good news. But she questioned me when my last ultrasound was. I told her 4 days ago, and she asked if head was down, to which I responded yes. His head had been down my entire pregnancy. She seems confused and tells me she is going to check again. She brings in the scanner, and tells me he is not head down down....but a bum down baby. I was in complete shock....how and when on earth could he have turned?  As I am thinking back, I am 98% sure I know when it happened....just hours before when I was trying to change positions to offer some pain relief there was a huge pain and hard spot in my lower abdomen....I think that must have been his head coming up. I am still baffled that he turned. And trying to make the situation light I joked that " I told you he didn't want to come out! He is really trying to stay in now."
But there was also a huge flood of emotions as everything set in. I knew I would most likely have to have a Caesarian. But my doctor called in other doctors and we began to talk out our options. Examining the baby more he was in an ideal breech position....if I were to still attempt a vaginal delivery. He told me it is not common, but I would be a good candidate because of his position and that I had already delivered 2 babies. But he also went on to explain the risks. The possibility that I could start to deliver him and his head could get stuck, and we could lose him. He talked to me about a c-section and what it would entail. He weighed out the pros and cons with me and told me it was completely my decision but if I were his wife he would recommend the c-section. Why risk harming a perfectly healthy baby. He also mentioned that while he was comfortable trying the breech delivery his shift ended at 7:30 that morning and if my labour hasn't progressed by then and he left another doctor might come in who wouldn't deliver me and send me for a c-section anyways. Prior to making any decisions on all of this I also had the anesthesiologist come in to give me my epidural that I wanted. I discussed with him what my pain choices would be with a Caesarian. I could have a c-section with a high dose epidural, or if I decided right then to get the c-section they would give me a spinal tap. I had so many decisions to make, through contractions, at an extremely emotional vulnerable time. I asked for a bit of time to decide. The anesthesiologist (Dave) recommended the epidural to get me started so I could relax and think. I got the epidural, talked with Mike, called and talked with my mom. There were a lot of tears. A c-section was the very last thing I had wanted and it was completely unexpected. And I was terrified.....terrified of being cut open, of trying to recover with three kids, the possibility of feeling pain during the procedure. I was an emotional wreck.
Somehow through it all we decided to go with a c-section. I didn't want to risk harming my baby. But the next problem arose....my epidural wasn't complete....I still had some feeling on my right side. Dave gave me a stronger dose, but it still did not completely take on the right side. I mentioned again that I did not want to feel having a c-section. He told me they would take out the epidural and give me a spinal tap. I was wheeled down to the operating room, and prepped. During the prep for the spinal tap I got really nauseous and threw up. They cleaned me up....as I had little feeling in my lower body from the epidural, I felt helpless.  They finished up the spinal and set up the cover then Mike and Meaghan (the photographer) came in. A combination of the medication and my nerves sent me into the shakes. I was shivering a lot.  I was very scared....but I didn't feel anything and before I knew it I heard the sweet squeals come from my baby who was now safely out. A new flood of emotion washed over me  and I got to see my son, just not hold him quite yet. He weighed in at 6 lbs 13 oz, he was 19 3/4 inches long and was born at 2:44am. I was so glad he was here.
Once in  recovery they told me it is usually two hours before anesthetic wears off, but because I had had both it would probably be longer. I got to hold my baby, and nurse him, and try to figure out a what to name him. We decided on Jaxen Robert Sommerfeld. Robert is Mikes middle name and we liked being able to pass it on. I was in recovery for  6 long hours before I could finally move my legs enough. The rest didn't wear off for a few more hours. Lol, I guess I got my wish for not feeling a thing.
I am happy my baby is here, though it was quite the emotional journey getting him here. I am extremely grateful that we were able to catch that experience on film to remember. Meaghan did an amazing job, and I will cherish those pictures forever. You can see them on her blog here!
The road to recovery will be a little longer, but we have an amazing support group of friends who have been working around the clock to take care of my family. I feel so blessed and grateful for that. And more blessed to have this new addition to our family.

40 Weeks!

It's always at this point when you truly feel this baby is never coming out! I have had a pregnancy countdown going and it now reads 0 Days - You're Due! If only it were that accurate! It really is the uncertainty of when baby will come that kills me. It would be so much easier to wait if I had an exact end date to look forward to. But when you wake up every morning thinking.....it could happen today....and go to bed thinking....it didn't happen today, maybe tonight....well it gets old fast! I could probably patiently wait X number of days if I had a garentee it would come that day. But here I am still anxiously waiting. Stats:
-last time I checked my weight gain was right around 17 lbs.
-the last two weeks I have tried to stay home as much as possible. Walking is a real pain, ha ha ha....literally!
-baby is full term and really just needs to make his appearance.
-I have had an increase of Braxton Hicks contractions this week....just enough to give me a tease and think it could be the start of something. But still nothing happening.
-there really isn't too much exciting to repot at this stage, unless you want a little TMI of things that happen at my doctors appointments!
-on a safe note though, at my last two doctors appointments she checked me and I was 1cm dialated each time.
There have been a few other things that indicate labor should happen soon, but soon is a relative term, it could still be another week. I do have yet another ultrasound booked for this Tuesday. If I don't go into labor before then it will be my 5th ultrasound for this pregnancy alone. I only ever had one with each of my other babies. This one would be to check on the baby to make sure everything is still ok, or if they feel the need to induce. I have a feeling if I need to go for the ultrasound they will tell me he can stay in for another week....which means I could be pregnant until the 12th. The other thing that is hard around this time is seeing other women/friends who were due around the same time as me having their babies. Lol, I just wish I could feel super happy for them, but I am human and feel just a little jealous. I am not sure how many times Mason will make it to school this week, unless I can recruit a few friends to pick him up for me. He has spring break the following week so it will be nice to have a bit of a break before I have to start walking with him again. Aubrey is still anxiously waiting for this little guy too. She is very excited to be a big sister, and keeps telling her brother it is time to come out. We are all just really anxious to meet this little guy, and hope he comes this week!

Aubrey always likes jumping in the pictures with me! I think she is cuter to look at anyways!

Lasagna Soup and more!

I have said it before, but I love Our Best Bites. I don't think I have ever been disappointed by a recipe. Some of the ones that I have recently tried and feel the need to rave about are the Lasagna Soup (which we had for supper tonight) and the Baked Potato Soup (which I have made many times before but just recently had again).
Also we recently tried the Guiltless Alfredo sauce on a pizza. We have had it on pasta before and it is SOOOO awesome and so easy to make! Branching out from dinners I also LOVE the Brazillian Lemonade. Which isn't even made with lemons but rather limes...and it is to die for! Seriously go buy some limes now....and make it! I wish I had pictures for each of these things, but just go check them out because their pictures are a million times better anyways!

But I can share a few pictures with you of something else I made recently.....not food, but super cute!

I am getting antsy waiting for this baby and I am not so mobile any more, so sitting on the couch crocheting is a good way to pass the time. I made the diaper cover first to match this little blue and cream hat.
Then I made this hat to match the diaper cover and other hat.
I am in love with this little hat and want to make a few more. I am no photographer, and the lighting is bad...especially between the two hats. It's all done in the same color yarn. Navy blue and cream. I also still need to find a button for the diaper cover. I acquired the wood button as a single button, but would love to find something that matches it. I guess we will see. Might be a hard find!
I guess if nothing happens between now and Sunday, you will also be hearing about my 40 week mark. :)

38 weeks!

I am not going to lie.....I secretly hoped I wouldn't ever get to write this post! I mean what pregnant women doesn't want to go into labour a little early? I have been late with both my other children, realistically I should just assume I will be late with all. But I am 38 weeks, and considered full term. Baby could come any day, but on the long end I will only be pregnant for a maximum of 21 more days. I am due in 14. If I had my way, baby would come today or at least this week.....Mike is off all week for reading week, it would just be really good timing! :) A girl can always hope.
So some stats....
-38 weeks pregnant, baby should weigh around 6 1/2 pounds around this point
- my weight gain is right around the 15 pound mark
-my heartburn isn't so terrible all the time, it just feels like all my food is sitting in my throat.
-baby is finding uncomfortable places to poke and jab at me, there is not much more room in there.
-sleep is getting a lot harder, every position is uncomfortable at this point.
-if I walk more than 15-20 min I am pretty much out of commission for the rest of the day. Darn those hips and pelvic muscles.
-the kids are super excited to meet this little guy, as are Mike and I. We all talk to him everyday and tell him it's time to come out. He doesn't seem to be listening very well. :)
-I will be having the doctor check things out this week to see if anything is happening...fingers crossed!
- we still haven't set a name, or even come really close at this point. Guess we better get cracking on that!
-he is still a very active baby despite the lack of room. Mike always says he has never felt a baby move so much, and he is excited to see what he is like when he is out and has room to move around.
We are all very anxious to have this little guy out of my belly and in our arms. The kids have been talking about what they want to do when he gets here. Mason told me that he wanted to gently cuddle the baby laying down, maybe on Aubrey's bed because his bed is too high. Aubrey says she is going to share her barbies with him and give him kisses too. Hopefully they remember all these things when he gets here!
This week we also had a friend come and do some family/maternity pictures for us. Here are a few of my favourite.

Her name is Meaghan Milne, she did a great job and if you are in the Toronto area and interested here is her website. It was so nice to have some pictures captured of our growing family, and I am looking forward to doing more family pictures once this little guy arrives!

Pregnancy Hair!!!

I LOVE pregnancy hair......it grows well....is thick and healthy, and none of it falls out! Seriously.... I can go 3-5 days without brushing my hair, shower and have like 3-4 strands of hair that come off my head.... Here is proof!
Yes I am totally showing you my collection of hair on my shower wall. I am doing so because I know I am going to freak out again when I start loosing all this beautiful pregnancy hair. Even though I know it is coming, after having experienced it with both my other babies. But for now, I am going to enjoy the last few months with my hair.
I have also been "training" my hair for about the last year. I had read on so many blogs about people going 4-5 days or a week between washing their hair, and I was like "that is so not me!! I could never getaway with that!" I felt like I must have had the greasiest hair on the planet. I could barely go two days without it looking bad. So I started doing some research....and learned how to train my hair to be less oily. I don't know why the concept had never occurred to me before but it can be compared to many other functions of the human body. For example, you wash your face...you rehydrate it with moisturizer, or your face can over produce oils to compensate. The comparison I related to most though was actually breast feeding. As long as there is a demand for milk the body will keep producing. The more you nurse the more milk your body produces, the less and less you nurse your body adjusts and slows down milk production. It finally clicked for me!
The more I wash my hair, the more oils my body is producing to try to compensate for me stripping my hair of them every two days or less. So if I start stretching out the times between washing....I should be able to regulate my oiliness! Yay....and hallelujah!!! So I began slow....I started pushing my washes to every 3 days...usually planning it so I was home on the third day! I also picked up some dry shampoo to get me through the really bad days. Eventually things evened out, so I pushed to the 4th day. And so on and so on! I now wash my hair every 4-5 days, and it looks great in between too! Here's proof!
It also really helps if I style it well the first day, here it is just blow dried with a round brush!  Day 1
I honestly woke up out of bed tossed on some mascara and got dressed. I did not touch my hair Day 2!
Day 3 I get more volume and curl in it again, but still didn't do much of anything with it!
Day 4 I usually wear it back, something like this.... if needed I will toss in a little dry shampoo!
And this is an old picture, as was the last, but this is typically how I do my hair if I push it to Day 5!!! Just a nice big bun, similar to those sock buns floating around the internet!!
Either way, I love that I can get sooooo much wear out of my hair these days. Added to that the thick lush prego hair and this girl is one happy camper!!
